How do you take the train from EWR to Manhattan?
Follow signs from your terminal to the airport's rail connection. It normally uses AirTrain to reach Newark Liberty International Airport Rail Station. From there, take an NJ TRANSIT Northeast Corridor or North Jersey Coast Line train bound for New York Penn Station. NJ TRANSIT lists the rail journey from the airport station to Penn Station at about 30 minutes; allow additional time to reach the station from your terminal and, if necessary, get from Penn Station to your final address. Your NJ TRANSIT airport ticket includes the AirTrain access fee.
Current construction change: From Jul 27, 2026 through Nov 13, 2026, shuttle buses replace AirTrain service between the terminals and Airport Train Station on weekdays from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. The airport advises allowing an extra 10–15 minutes. How do taxis and rideshares work at Newark Airport?
